Football Coverage from AFC East to NCAA FCS
The first week of the 2022 NFL Preseason schedule provided plenty of opportunities for hopeful rookies and a number of FCS products took advantage. Christian Benford, Julius Chestnut, Lance McCutcheon and Cole Strange all made good first impressions.
In what was a UConn-organized event, three kids from local FCS programs stole the show. Sacred Heart’s Julius Chestnut and Josh Sokol along with Central Connecticut’s Tyshaun James all signed NFL contracts after grabbing scouts’ attention at the Huskies Pro Day.
The Football Championship Subdivision has been home to a number of prime NFL prospects over the years, having produced current high-profile players such as Super Bowl LVI MVP Cooper Kupp, Indianapolis Colts All-Pro linebacker Darius Leonard and San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance. Here are five potential 2022 NFL Draft picks from the FCS.
